STRUX® 90/40 sets new standards both in terms
of project time savings and cost. The launch of the fibre reinforced
concrete solution offers a practical alternative to traditional
(mesh) steel fabric reinforcement. Capable of providing a higher
strength-to-weight ratio and fineness than traditional steel fibres,
the new solution offers lower dosage rates, eliminating the need
for specialist handling equipment.
Extensive testing – specified and verified
by the Steel Construction Institute – has shown that STRUX®
90/40 is capable of offering increased project safety and greater
flexibility. In terms of application, the benefits of fibre reinforcement
over traditional mesh are well documented. In addition to meeting
the physical requirements for longitudinal shear and composite interaction
in the floor plate, when coupled with Holorib, a fire rating of
two hours can be achieved.
Individual bags of STRUX® 90/40 are light
(2.3kg) making the product safer and easier to handle. When used
in conjunction with the right mix, it displays excellent pumping
characteristics, further minimising job downtime.
Dr. Chris Hampton, Director of Richard Lees Steel
Decking said: “We have a great tradition for innovative products
in the industry and we’re delighted to be working with Grace
Construction Products on the development of fibre reinforcement.
It’s now available for use with most of our product range
– including Ribdeck E60 and Ribdeck AL - in addition to Holorib”.
And Bob Hathaway, Product Manager (Europe) of
Grace Construction Products added “The results from the Steel
Construction Institute were exceptional and we’re all excited
about the products’ future. Although marketing only started
in July, STRUX® is now being widely specified.
